The Great A

An easy read full of interesting facts about a conqueror of whom I had previously known little. I think in retrospect that a map at the beginning would have made for a more comprehensible read. Just too hard to figure out where Alex was going, much less where he had been.

but it was like reading a school book

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the writing in this book was very sophomoric, which leads me to believe that possibly this is written for a young audience? I did learn about Alexander and his times, but it was like reading a school book. I recommend the book for basic background, but don't look for it to be anything more than that.

Skimming

This is not an in depth look at the life of Alexander. It is a Cliff notes version at best. I understand that much of the events described happened before a cohesive written history, however; there are spelling and grammatical errors galore and the fall of the Macedonian Empire is less than fully explored.
