About the Author
Rajnesh Tyagi is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) IIT (BHU) India. He obtained his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1992, and his Ph.D. in 2001 from Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee. Dr. Tyagi also worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Nanjing PR China from Dec 2008 to Sept 2010. His research interests include Materials Development and Tribology, Composite materials and High Temperature wear and Solid Lubrication, Surface Engineering etc. Recently, he is diversifying in Wear Protective coatings and texturing, Nano-tribology etc. He is a life member of Tribology Society of India and reviewer to various international journals like Wear, Tribology International and Tribology Letters, to name a few.

J. Paulo Davim received his PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Porto in 1997 and the Aggregation from the University of Coimbra in 2005. Currently, he is an Aggregate Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Aveiro. He has more 25 years of teaching and research experience in manufacturing, materials and mechanical engineering with special emphasis in machining and tribology. Recently, he has also interest in sustainable manufacturing and industrial engineering. He is the Editor-in-Chief of six international journals, guest editor of journals, books editor, book series editor and scientific advisory for many international journals and conferences. Presently, he is an editorial board member of 20 international journals and acts as reviewer for than 70 prestigious ISI Web of Science journals. In addition, he has also published in his field of research as author and co-author more than 40 book chapters and 350 articles in journals and conferences (more 180 articles in ISI Web of Science, h-index 25+).

About the Author
Kenneth Stephenson is Professor of Mathematics at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where he has established an active research program in complex function theory. He has had visiting positions at the University of Hawaii and Florida State University, and sabbatical appointments at the Open University and the University of Cambridge. Over the last fifteen years he has centered his research on circle packing. In this book he formulates circle packing as a discrete incarnation of classical analytic function theory.

The biker scene has lost its appeal...

Lynch is the Wild Marauders motorcycle club president. The club is his life. His crew are his best mates, he makes heaps of money doing what he loves and he has plenty of sweetbutts to service him. He sees a chick on the side of the road with her car broken down and offers her help which she declines. This chick was hot and stuck in his mind after he left her. Every time he had sex with a sweetbutt after their meeting he pictures her face.

Kat meets a hot biker on the side of the road when her car breaks down. Her boring respectable lawyer boyfriend stays in the car while she gets hit on by the biker. This wakes her up to the fact that her boyfriend is a loser. She breaks up with loser and two weeks later gets dropped at the feet of the biker.

This story has action, suspense and intrigue. Lots of fighting between rival clubs which brings murder and mayhem to the club's door.

There were some pretty hot sexy times between the main characters and an obvious connection between them.

My reasons for the lower rating...I'm over bikers. It doesn't turn me on when they want to have public sex. I'm not impressed that every sentence spoken has at least one swear word, it gets monotonous. I don't like to think these women choose to degrade themselves by offering sex to be able to hang around. I don't think being the President's old lady is something to aspire to, it just puts a target on your back.

I have enjoyed books about motorcycle clubs, but for me they have lost their appeal. Maybe down the track the appeal will come back, but for now it's time for a break.

3 stars. I don't mind erotic books, but this is one of those books that I felt the sex scenes really overpowered the story. Maybe that is what the author was going for, however, I was actually really enjoying the plot. I really liked the characters themselves, the buildup to their relationship, all the crazy mc stuff, but all the overdone intimate scenes put a damper on it for me. I found some of the phrasing so over-the-top, it made the scenes seem ridiculous instead of "hot". I'm definitely not saying to get rid of the sex scenes. Just personally, I would prefer them to be turned down a little so the other stuff can shine through more. The action side was good, and I loved the h and H together. Just my preferences.

Judith R. Davis is an independent analyst with over 30 years of experience in the business application of information technology. Comprehensive Introduction to Data Virtialization - Barry Devlin, author "Data Warehouse - From Architecture to Implementation"

This first book on the topic of data virtualization provides an excellent starting point for anybody trying to answer users' demands for an integrated view of the information needed to run and manage a modern business.

Data virtualization, in this and previous incarnations such as federation and EII, has long been a contentious topic for data warehousing. It's easy to see why: data virtualization allows you to avoid consolidating and reconciling data into an enterprise data warehouse (EDW), which is usually the most complex and costly part of business intelligence (BI) projects. However, apart from some early marketing hype, data virtualization doesn't say you should use it instead of an EDW. And given the dramatic explosion in data volumes and varieties in recent years, together with business demands for instantaneous information access, the role of the EDW as sole provider of BI is open to question.

In BI and beyond, there is an emerging view that the operational and informational worlds must now be merged back together, not just in principle but in practice. Data virtualization offers agile solutions that enable this amalgamation. The real value of this book is that it confirms this view and demonstrates it in action in ten well-described case studies spanning a wide range of industries.

The only possible criticism is that all the case studies come from customers of one vendor, Composite Software - hardly surprising, given that Bob Eve, one of the authors, is EVP of Marketing there. However, the co-author is Judy Davis, an independent analyst who takes the broader view. The studies are written in a balanced and functionally oriented style that allows the reader to easily look beyond the product used to the business benefits and technological challenges being met. Extrapolation to another product set is thus straightforward.

Anyone contemplating data virtualization as a solution to their data integration needs, whether for BI or in a broader context, will benefit greatly from the clear thinking, existing experience and strong production values that have gone into this book.

Practical Intro to Data Virtualization

I found this book to be a very readable, practical introduction to Data Virtualization. Data Virtualization is one of the newer IT disciplines and a quick search on Amazon shows that not much has been written on it, yet. I think this book fills a gap in the industry.

The authors recognize Data Virtualization as an important tool in achieving enterprise agility. It must be considered as part of an overall strategy in achieving excellence. In our upcoming book, Business Intelligence Program we discuss the importance of agility in IT and BI in particular. Data Virtualization can be a component in implementing a successful, nimble strategy that meets the rapidly changing needs of the business.

As for the objection that the book is just an advertisement, I think it's written in a very straight-forward style. It definitely does not come across as a sales presentation. The list of companies which have lent their name and their success stories is impressive. I think the case studies only add credibility to the narrative.

If you're considering Data Virtualization, this is a must-read.

The Time has Come for Data Virtualization

The challenges in accessing data continue to grow across the enterprise. Big Data, Cloud Data and highly regulated data all contribute to the problem and are forcing companies to reevaluate how they move, access or leverage this information. Innovation in the data integration space is critical for companies that are facing these issues. Data virtualization has found a place in this terrain and offers a unique solve to the problem. This book does an excellent job in delivering easy to understand examples and value propositions to support the technology. The focus on its agile benefits are accurate and help readers understand how/why this technology should be part of their data strategy. I like the real world case studies from companies such as Comcast, Northern Trust, Qualcomm, NYSE Euronext and Pfizer. The book is well suited for IT and Business executive who are exploring the topic and need to better understand the challenges and opportunities that data virtualization can deliver. The book isn't designed to act as a technical "how to" its intended to address the question of "why".

I love this book. My mom used to read it to me when I was small, and it has always been one of my favorites. I lost my original book many years ago but now that I am an aunt I have searched high and low to relocate it as a gift for my nephew. The short stories in the book are touching as well as humorous and have a way of gripping readers both young and old!!

About the Author

Lou Rosenfeld is an independent information architecture consultant. He has been instrumental in helping establish the field of information architecture, and in articulating the role and value of librarianship within the field. Lou played a leading role in organizing and programming the first three information architecture conferences (both ASIS&T Summits and IA 2000). He also presents and moderates at such venues as CHI, COMDEX, Intranets, and the web design conferences produced by Miller Freeman, C|net and Thunder Lizard. He teaches tutorials as part of the Nielsen Norman Group User Experience Conference.

Peter Morville is president of Semantic Studios, an information architecture, user experience, and findability consultancy. Since 1994, he has advised such clients as AT&T, Harvard, IBM, the Library of Congress, Microsoft, the National Cancer Institute, Vodafone, and the Weather Channel. Peter is best known as a founding father of information architecture, having co-authored the field's best-selling book, Information Architecture for the World Wide Web. Peter has served on the faculty at the University of Michigan's School of Information and on the advisory board of the Information Architecture Institute. He delivers keynotes and seminars at international events, and his work has been featured in major publications including Business Week, The Economist, Fortune, and The Wall Street Journal. How to Make Sense of Any Mess: Information Architecture for Everybody is a better book for introduction to the topic of Information Architecture. Much more accessible. however, this one is great as a deeper text book for UX/IA practitioners.

This is a brilliantly reframed reinvention of a digital design classic. It catches the "polar bear" up with the way information architecture has matured to be not just about the web we see in browsers, but the whole world of digitally disrupted environments that need us to make sense of them across all channels and contexts. Yet it still gives practical everyday direction on organizing and planning for the web and everything the web has become since the first polar bear book came out 20 years ago. If you've never read this book, get it. And if you have read it in the past, get it anyway, because you're due for an update.

About the Author
John O. Everett, Ph.D., CPA, is Professor of Accounting at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. Dr. Everett has served as a speaker and instructor for numerous professional education programs, including the national training courses of Ernst & Young and McGladrey & Pullen. A graduate of Oklahoma State University, he has authored or coauthored a number of articles in academic and professional journals. He is the coauthor of several textbooks, including TaxPoint, coauthored with Cherie Hennig as the first interactive tax textbook on the Web. Cherie Hennig, Ph.D., M.B.A., is Professor and Faculty Director of the Executive Master's of Science in Taxation Program at Florida International University. Dr. Hennig began her career as an IRS Revenue Agent in Denver, CO. Nancy B. Nichols, Ph.D, M.S., is Associate Professor of Accounting and the MSA Program Director at James Madison University. Prior to obtaining her Ph.D. at the University of North Texas, Nancy was a tax partner at Deloitte and Touche. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in taxation.

Worst book ever!!!!!

Before the update, the story was resolved in an acceptable happily ever after fashion. A book update notice was sent, I thought to fix typos but oh no, the author went stupid and brutally killed the main character and her 4 children. How was this making the book better?????? Here is my recommendation don't read this crap. Nothing would make want to read this book again. To the publisher, Jessica Watkins, do you not read things before you release them? This book has pissed me off, I will never read another story by this author. I wish I could give this book a negative 5 stars, unfortunately you have to give at least 1 star to submit a review but I wanted to warn anyone who might be tempted to waste there time and money not to do it. A colon cleanse would be better!

I truly hope the author read this because this exactly why I said making a book into parts can ruin a story. I truly feel if she would had just wrote one book she could have went with that momentum and had a awesome book but she didn't and this what we got.... This book read like it was the authors brain storm sheet none of this flowed well at all. Things I would have like to seen Josephine learning about the girls, more about the demise of Vincenzo I feel there wasn't an adequate conclusion for him. Please get rid of Victoria she is annoying hello girl your dad was snitching on the mob what did she expect to happen. I honestly don't know if I will read Nicolai story this one left such a bad impression to me.

Reading experience a total let down...

Like many other fans I waited anxiously for the sequel to Andrianno's and Simone's story. I was really hyped up for this, but I have to honestly say that this was a bit of a disappointment. I truly feel something went terribly wrong in the editing process. Like some other readers have reported, there is indeed a passage of the story that appears twice, and it ain't no formatting glitch... You can just tell because the second time it repeated, the outcome of the scene changed a bit. There were also major issues about 3/4 into the story. The kind of discrepancies that were just blatant to me, such as a character being in too many places at once. It felt like the chronology of the story was out of sync. If you read the book, you know what I mean...just pay attention to Vincenzo's character. There is one whole chapter that came at the end of the book that should have been placed earlier. While I still enjoyed the interaction between Andrianno and Simone, I felt the ending was rushed and completely "unclimactic". Simone's emotions were all over the place, and there was no heartfelt scene or big show as to why she suddenly forgives Andrianno towards the end. It made no sense. Also confusing was Victoria's behavior. In the end, while I was happy to see the HEA for the characters, the reading experience was a total let down due to the many errors in editing, and I'm not talking about minor spelling mistakes either.
