Limited interest for US readers

10 years is a long time in high technology, and alarms sytems are based on high technology. So this book is now of mainly historical interest and for background reading.
Compounding this issue for non-UK residents, is the fact that the book was written in the UK, by a UK engineer about UK alarm sytems. These differ quite significantly from those used in the USA. There are different regulatory standards and quite different customs and practices.
When published, the book was an exceptionally useful volume and it highlighted for me the mystery of why there was no equivalent in the USA, nor is there today. Mr. Cumming should update his book and someone in the US should take it as a model for a book about US alarm systems.

This book was published 15 years ago in 1992. Like all technology, security system design and equipment improves at a dramatic rate (on a yearly basis). The information in this book is not relevant to today's available technology. There are better resources out there.

This is a no-nonsense, straight-to-the-point book, which effectively covers the topic of chemical process control. Though it is quite old now, much of the information is still very relevant and useful.

The way of simplifying explanations and writing from an understanding point of view (rather than merely presenting facts) is great and I wish all books were written in such a way!

If you are a student of chemical engineering and you need to study process control, this is the best book to initiate. After you can look for more specialazed books. It's excellent for general view.

A book on Process "Dynamics" and Control

Up to the late 1970's the trend in chemical process control was the development of algorithms that if found successful were then marketed to companies with process control problems or with new processes. The use of incorrect models led to disenchantment and loss of interest both in academia and industry. Eventually, "the realization that the crucial problem was to understand enough about the "dynamics" of the chemical systems so that advanced control procedures could be implemented" led to books like this by Stephanopoulos that addressed this issue. This book emphasizes the analysis of the dynamic behavior of the chemical process. Although first published in 1984, it is still a popular introductory book in chemical process control.

Proceeding from outside in, each book is chockablock with cutaways and diagrams, all well labeled, which explore the vehicle's various systems: from the engine to the galley in Plane; from the engine to the dashboard and the body in Car. Fact boxes give readers a break from the technical stuff. There are a few slipups: in Car, for example, there's no mention of the combustion chamber, and although the word odometer appears on a spread showing the parts of a dashboard, it's never explained in the book. Wonderful, fun, and educational

I recently purchased the "Take It Apart Car" book for my son who is almost 5 years old. He loves it. We have been reading the book and then going out to the real car to look for the different parts. He enjoys learning about his favorite hobby "cars". Also, I have learned a few things about how cars work from reading the book as well.

Go deeper in your faith

This is one of my favorite books. I've bought it a few times when it was still in print, but I lent it to friends and never got it back. This copy is old and gently used, but I'm so glad to have it. If you're interested in going deeper in your faith, in finding answers to pressing faith questions, this book is great. And the writing is very good.

It's all about God and not about me!

This book made me look deeper into myself, see my faults and pray that God will deliver me from "self." It is showing us how we must depend totally on God and the work of the Holy Spirit. Anyone who wants to get closer to Jesus would love this book. We can see how living our lives is not about "us", but about God, who is Sovereign.

A real gem. This book changed my life...

This was a life-changing book for me when I first read a borrowed copy decades ago. I recently felt the need (during a difficult time) to revisit Catherine's spiritual wisdom. She never disappoints! If I have had a spiritual mentor in life, it is Catherine Marshall (I have a number of her books). She is meaty and thought-provoking without being negative, deep without being a heavy read, and she writes intelligently and beautifully. A real gem. Highly recommend this book as well as her book on the Holy Spirit, 'The Helper'. They will change your life. - they did mine. Thank you, Catherine!

Great for older beginners!

I use the Faber series for all my students. The only book in the series I'm not wild about is the primer level, so whenever I have a bright enough/old enough student--even 7 years old, I'll start them right into the Piano Adventures Level 1 Accelerated version. Great stuff. Teaches very systematically and not too fast for all but the youngest students. Their arrangements are very musical. I've been teaching piano for over 20 years and have used various methods in the past, but switched to Faber about 5 years ago and love it!

A Great Story!

Lizzy Mitchell goes from single mom to princess bride, all because she has something that Prince Rico Ceraldi wants. Her nephew which is now her adopted son. He is the young heir to the throne of San Lucenzo.

I saw how this story was going. He must have in some dark place in his mind wanted Lizzy. Why would he want to run away until the royal family had reached a decision. He never said that he wanted the throne so why give him a choice of his bride or the throne?

It was a little puzzling. I don't think she had any body issues anymore because when she went to the spa she saw a whole now person that she could be if she took the time to do it everyday. It was great the Rico wanted her. That should make her feel even better about her self.

I guess I just don't know why people complain about these books. No one told them to buy them, if you don't like harlequin romance then don't read them. I love them because I am taken to a different place every time I read one. It gives me a HEA.

i havent finished this book and dont know if i will. its very tedious , if i have to read one more negative word about the heroine being plain i will upchuck. also if i have to read the child in the book call his uncle tio rico, instead of zio rico i will puke. im italian , the author should get it right, tio is uncle in spanish not italian. dont bother with tis one. spend ur money on something else.

Save yourself they money.....Spoiler Alert

Originally I downloaded this as a sample for my Kindle, only to realize I had previously purchased this at a Friends of the Library Sale.

I will say that this book had some exciting parts in the plot, but there are things that don't add up.

First thing I did not like, the heroine is described as plain, ugly, and very unattractive, she is also basically described as stupid, from the initial meeting Rico finds Lizzy very unattractive. The author goes on to describe her this way through out the entire book, and Prince Rico is very shallow and vain from the beginning almost to the end of the book. Both Rico and Lizzy come from bad negative backgrounds, both were treated as a shadow to their respective siblings that is the one thing they share. It was somewhat exciting when he rescued Ben and Lizzy from the life his father had planned for them, I think that was the most exiting aspect of the plot. As for the rest of the book she has to have an extensive makeover in order for him to find her attractive, and she requires a lot of up keep to be beautiful. They do marry prior to her makeover, however he doesn't fall in love with her until after she is made up. Rico is later arrested and she is forced back to England where she basically accepts herself as the ugly unattractive frumpy aunt to her now bastard nephew. She is described as slowly turning plain without her beauty treatments. Eventually they are reunited after he is striped of his title of Prince and basically vanished from the kingdom.

Someone pointed it out Ben calls his uncle Tio which is the Spanish equivalent of uncle. I also felt the author extended the story of their past too long into the current story. I was very disappointed by the whole story, I would not recommend buying this book.

This is definitely not Harlequin Presents Material.

She did it again

I waited patiently for this book for months. Having read all of Suzan Tisdale books I knew this was a sure hit and I was not disappointed. She makes you feel all of lady Arlene's pain. Also all of Rowan's as well. The way she writes each book can be a stand alone or do like me and start with Laden's Daughters and work your way to this one. I must admit I have read a lot of Highlander books and I think Suzan Tisdale ranks up with Hannah Howell.

Another hard to put down book from this author!

This book took me through so many emotions....laughing, sniffling, giggling, tearing up. But it held my attention throughout the entire book and was hard to put down so I could get my household chores done! The evil bad guys were so believable I wanted to smack them myself. The hero was many things, sad, inspiring, strong and wonderful. But Rowan's Lady was totally amazing! Thank you for yet another great book Suzane!

another wonderful story

I enjoyed this book so much. It's wonderful to spend time with do many of the same characters.
Rowan and Arline have been through some very trying times.

Rowan had to finally marry the woman from an arranged marriage. Kate was a very loving young woman and she and Rowan shared a short marriage. They did have a daughter together but Kate died along with many from the clan. Lily is kidnapped and Rowan goes to find her.

Arline is trying to get through a year of marriage to Garrick of Blackthorne. This is her third marriage. All have been arrainged by her father and they haven't been good. This last one has left her hurt, bruised and bleeding several times. At the end of the year, Garrick promises that she can leave.

In the meantime, Garrick who hates Rowan, kidnaps Lily and decides that Arline can care for her.arline finds a way for them both to escape, however, Rowan and his men find a way into Garrick's castle and they rescue Lily. Arline tells them to leave without her and she leaves on her own. It's the middle if the night, she is walking down the road when a few of Garrick's men decide that they want her.

Lily keeps crying for Arline because they have become so close in the time they have had together. Rowan and his men find Arline and rescue her. They take her to Rowan's castle.

So many things are working against Rowan and Arline. Wanna be wives of Rowan and Arline's father to name a few.

Please read this book. Start with Laiden's Daughter and enjoy each of these wonderful stories. You will laugh. You will cry and you will smile.
