Have the author as the professor for my law school class. Explains the law in a succinct manner and liked the way the professor used the book in the class. I'm unsure as it how it would stand on its own though, without the accompanying text book, but its purpose for the class was just a supplement. One way to improve is to have "sample answers" to the scenarios or at least an outline of the answers to the questions presented. Overall, its a pretty good reference and I will probably end up keeping it instead of selling it back to the book store.

the book describes biological details of both scyphomedusa and stauromedusae, and has a large bibliography. i found it useful in my study on the scyphomedusae as the other book I had been using was published in 1970. Distribution details are not given, however. Good sourcebook for Scyphozoan reserach.

Several years ago at a church education seminar, I was asked to talk about an experience that had made a difference in my life. I shared the fact that my husband, though not a Christian when we married, had become a Christian eight years later. At the end of the seminar, an enthusiastic young woman made a point of introducing herself.

"You don't know what it meant to me to hear you tell about your husband becoming a Christian,"she exclaimed. "You see, my husband doesn't attend church. He doesn't believe in religion. But after hearing your story, I suddenly knew there was hope that someday he can change."

This woman's words confirmed what I had already come to suspect: many Christians are married to people who either don't share their faith, are openly antagonistic to their faith, or profess to be Christians but aren't experiencing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. To a believer married to a nonbeliever, spiritual compatibility can seem like a remote pipe dream. But change is possible! That is why I have written this book. By employing the four evangelizing tools outlined in When A Believer Marries A Nonbeliever, we allow God to work through us to bring about spiritual change.

My writing experience as a newspaper editor, reporter, and free-lance fiction writer provided me with the necessary writing skills and background to complete a book which I believe will enhance and improve many "unequally yoked" relationships. It is my prayer that many more couples can attain the unique joy born of placing God first in marriage and in life.

From a nonbeliever's perspective

I purchased this book for my Christian fiancee, as our differing spiritual beliefs had created some tension between us. I read it first, expecting it to be filled with tricks and traps to convert me to Christianity. Here they are, in a nutshell:
1) Set a good Christian example, and 2) Pray often and vigorously.
Hope I didn't spoil the plot for anyone! Obviously, my skepticism was unwarranted. The book also contains wonderful advice in non-spiritual areas, such as love and communication. The message that "it is God who ultimately draws us to Him" is important for those who may feel the burden of their loved ones' eternal life rests solely on the believer's shoulders.
The only reason I didn't rate this book with five stars is it focuses on only two types of nonbelievers: "lukewarm" Christians who haven't developed a personal relationship with Jesus, and agnostics who have little or no spiritual life at all. Perhaps a future edition could include believers from different faiths. In my opinion, many of the book's reasons for becoming a Christian, such as overall health and happiness, would apply to becoming a Jew, Buddhist, or Muslim as well.
Still, this book accomplishes its goal very well, and I recommend it for any believer/nonbeliever couple. It helped me to realize "our differences may be deep, but not wide, and we can hold hands across the gap."

Her work serves as a practical guide and inspiration for those who are married to an unbeliever and desire to have their spouse open to a personal relationship with Christ. She carefully identifies the importance of prayer and encourages the reader to employ a gentle and kind witness. Bebe has authored a poignant work that brings both laughter and tears to the reader. This book is highly recommended to every believing spouse who sincerely desires to learn and grow as they witness to their unbelieving mate. It is also recommended to those who counsel couples.

Academic/Professional Grade Text

I noticed that many of the reviews come from individuals with bipolar. As a psychotherapist and addictions counselor I find this THE text on bipolar disorder. With that said it is written at an academic level. I showed it to psychologist colleague and he indicated the material was written at a level that would be a challenge for even a post-doctoral resident. I say that as some may become discouraged or put off by the dry and dense amount of material covered. It can be like drinking from a fire hydrant. This is also an expensive investment. Now that you've been warned let me tell you about the good stuff.

1. The text is based on sold research

2. The text is revised 2nd Edition (2007)

3. One of the authors has bipolar illness

The book takes you through the history of bipolar disorder as we know it with a literature review of which brings us on the cusp of understanding today. Over 900 pages of material in a large textbook sized format. No pictures. I use this book more like a well from with to draw as needed. The differential diagnosis section is worth the price of admission alone. How do you know symptoms aren't medically induced, chemically induced, ADHD, PTSD ? There are really to many aspects to discuss here. I would like to mention some other books that may be a good primer before you plunk down the cash for this volume. Also with the advent of the new DSM V coming in about a year I expect a lot of books will start coming out with new editions. Could this be one? I don't know considering it was 17 years between the 1st and 2nd editions.

Excellent survey of Manic Depressive Illness....

Fascinating. Easy to read. A work of genuine scholarship, not a self-help manual or personal memoir. [One of the authors--Kay Redfield Jamison-- suffers from Manic Depressive Illness, but this book is not about her personal experiences. Jamison has written a number of books about her personal experience with MSI, available on Amazon].

This is a survey of all that is currently known about Manic-Depressive Illness. [Contrary to popular belief, "Bipolar Disorder" is but one illness in the Manic-Depressive spectrum. This book discusses Bipolar Disorder in depth, and other illness as well]. CAUTION: this is not a book about "unipolar" depression or "major depression".

This is the second edition of the book. Get the second edition. Comes in two volumes. Possibly destined to be THE reference work on Manic Depressive Illness, including Bipolar Disorder.

"Hard Road, J B Turner's first book featuring ex-Special Forces operative Jon Reznick, was a great action-adventure romp, so when Hard Kill landed on my mat, I was hoping for much of the same, and I wasn't disappointed, especially as I'd also been hoping for more of FBI assistant director Martha Meyerstein.
A senior American diplomat, Dennis O'Grady, has gone missing, and Meyerstein is heading the team charged with tracking him down. She wants Reznick on board, a move that certainly isn't universally popular, as he's seen as a maverick, someone who's prepared to cross the line - usually at high speed - should the situation warrant it. All the evidence starts to point to an Islamic terrorist connection, but Reznick, thinking outside the box as usual, isn't so sure. He wants to dig further into the life of seemingly squeaky-clean doctor, Adam Kendrick, a man who just seems too good to be true.

When all their initial investigations into Kendrick draw a blank, Meyerstein is under pressure to chase more obvious leads, but Reznick still isn't convinced. As pressure mounts, Meyerstein has some hard decisions to take and lines start to be crossed again. Then both Meyerstein and her team start to come under attack. Someone very definitely doesn't want this investigation to get close to the truth.

Turner writes a very convincing thriller and Reznick makes an equally convincing central character who always stays on the right side of the believability line. He's smart, tough and unconventional. Turner can also write convincing women, something that not every male thriller writer can boast. I commented favourably on his portrayal of Meyerstein in Hard Road and Turner skilfully builds on his earlier portrayal when we see her here under even more pressure than before.

There's a great sense of mounting tension here as it becomes clear just how far some people are prepared to go to keep their country safe. There are plenty of people around who believe the end justifies the means, and Turner's portrayal of them is chilling and effective. Hard Kill is fast, clever and above all, believable."�

Another awesome read by Turner

Just a great read. Spoiler alert for those who don't want to know what the books about.

This one starts with Jon Reznick at his home in Rockland, Maine. Its just dawn and he's sitting on his porch with coffee. His Baretta 9mm is right there as well.

Three vehicle pull up and Special Agent In Charge of the Boston office of the FBI, Jimmy Richards steps out and up to Reznick.

He advises Reznick that Assistant Director Martha Meyerstein is requesting Reznick leave with the FBI Agents.

Jon says no. He has plans to take a flight out to visit his daughter. Richards advises him he has no choice. Reznick advises him that yes he has a choice. He doesn't know these guys from adam and he could care less what their agenda is.

Richards explains what's happened and why Meyerstein requested he come.

Reznick heads for DC with Richards.

On arrival they arrive at Liberty Crossing which is one of the most secure facilities in the US and housed both the Office of the Director National Intelligence and its National Counter Terrorizm Center.

Once inside Reznick meets with Meyerstein and her right hand man Roy Stamper.

He also meets Lt. General Robert J. Black who lays it out for Reznick. Why they wanted him there.

Black tells him that a senior diplomat, a defense attach�, Dennis O'Grady who also worked as a national security advisor in a previous administration didn't show up for a scheduled meeting with Black. He missed the Black meeting after supposedly meeting with a trusted source of his in Bethesda forty-eight hours ago. Black advises Reznick that his is way out of character for O'Grady. He further advises Reznick that O'Grady worked in the Middle East for the best part of twenty years and was special advisor on the Persian Gulf and Southwest Asia for the State Department. His missing a meeting is way out of character for the man and Black thinks something has happened to him.

Meyerstein is the lead in the hunt for O'Grady and she wants Reznicks help. A Reznick who' ex Delta Force operator. A man who saved the day on Meyerstein's last mission. A man she trusts.

They also have a missing girl. Caroline Lieber who's father is Jack Leiber a big donator to the last presidents coffers. Her last boyfriend is Doctor. A Doctor with his own agenda.

So begins another damned read by Turner.

This one has Jon, Martha, Roy, General Black who not quite who he appears to be, a missing Caroline Lieber, a missing soon to be found O'Grady, Dr. Adam Kendrick who's a trained sniper and a man who everyone thinks is a caring, dedicated doctor which couldn't be further from the truth even his friend and his god children don't know the real Adam Kendrick, a man name Froch, murder, betrayal, a plot that Kendrick is a big part of and Jon Reznick doing what he does best.

Brilliant Combo of Procedural and Lone Wolf

"Never yield"
That's not just a motto, it's a fair description of Jon Reznick, a retired Delta Squad operator who occasionally does a fair imitation of runaway semi. In J. B. Turner's previous book, "Hard Road," he smashed his way down the East Coast after his daughter was kidnapped, leaving both cops and criminals reeling everywhere he passed.

This time, he's been called in by the FBI to join a team looking into a puzzling set of disappearances. Martha Meyerstein, the FBI executive leading the task force is a brilliant character--hard as a handgun with every hair in place. She reminds me of Helen Mirren in Prime Suspect: as much at war with bureaucratic intransigence and bone-deep sexism as she is with the subject of the investigation. We ran into her in "Hard Road" and now, she's the one who brings in Reznick, looking for someone who can see beyond the desk-bound and smash through the inter-service rivalries that still bog down US intelligence agencies--even after the terrible lessons of 9/11.

So, we have two books inextricably wrapped together: Reznick uses life-long training, a hunter's instinct, and a total disregard for anyone else's opinion as he breaks apart a powerful (and quite surprising) terrorist operation. Meanwhile, Meyerstein is fighting just as hard as she in effect works as a blocker for Reznick, constantly debating the risk of using an off-the-books operative who isn't bound by laws and policy guidelines against the indisputable fact that Reznick succeeds where others do not.

The writing is fast and tight, and Turner keeps the tension at a high pitch, even in scenes of FBI conference calls that by rights should be packaged as a sleep aid. The plot has more twists and turns than a Saturday night out at a local figure-8 racing track and yet, in the end, it all comes together with no red herrings or dangling questions.

Well,almost none.

Hard Kill is a non-stop battle between a terrorist no one can see and a hunter who lets nothing stand in his way. It's an excellent follow-up to Hard Road (which if you haven't read, you're really missing out.)

I enjoyed the first book

I enjoyed the first book, so bought the 2nd one. This one started off pretty good, but comes to a screeching halt for about half the book. As I'm reading, I look down and see that I'm through about 65% of the book and Reznick and the FBI don't seem to be closing in on their main suspect, which was introduced around chapter 3 (roughly). Then in the middle of the book, there are numerous "FBI Briefing Meetings". Meeting after meeting after meeting...could probably cut out about 1/3 of the book if J.B. Turner just limited some of those. I don't like going to meetings at work and I certainly don't like READING about meetings! Makes it really book really drag in spots.
The book is still good, just could have been better. I plan on reading the 3rd one, hopefully it's a little more action packed.

What a dream

I fell in love with Trent from the beginning. He was the mischief boy growing up, the only boy who didn't fall into the footsteps of everyone else in his family. He had himself so set for success no matter how he had closed himself off to the possibilities. Enter Elaine. Elaine had herself closed off because she didn't know who she was and felt that as long as she didn't know that how could she love someone else. She didn't know how to love because she didn't know why she was given away. Trent and Elaine clashed from the beginning....his walls meeting her walls until the unthinkable happened...Trent thought what if and Elaine thought maybe. While Trent tried to show her he cared for her by different things he did and said and taking her to meet the family without actually saying he wanted her to meet the family. Elaine was so focused on keeping her reputation clean she wanted NO ONE to know of the feelings she had for Trent let alone what they were doing between the sheets. Things blow up in their faces then they both realize what they are going to loose and they both together take down their walls. I am looking forward to book 3 so we can still get a glimpse of these two.

Trent is the ultimate ladies man.
Elaine is dependable, reliable, & follows rules. Her life is her job.
When Trent and Elaine meet there is an attraction, an undeniable magnetism.
An unknown is revealed and issues of trust arises.

Just the perfect touch of HOT

I said it before and I will say it again O-M-G. I swear reading The Billionaire's Masquerade you would think Jeannette would have 20 books already released. But no this is her second book. Now I loved her first book The Billionaire's Secret but this one just left the first on in it's dust. Once you begin to read it you are just more then captivated by the story, you live it. You begin to imagine yourself as the character in the story.

Elaine - Growing up never knowing her family I think made her a strong person. I think I would have done the same as she did in searching for where I was from and who my family was. I loved how she tried to avoid Trent but ended up getting together with him. They make a deal on where no one would know they are dating. He even tried to help her find her family, of course not the way he should have done it. Can they survive what happens? Read the book. I am sooooo not giving this away.

Trent - Look ladies he is MINE that is M-I-N-E MINE....Oh my blood roared throughout reading this book. Trent is sure a force to be reckon with. When he went for something he got it. And he wanted Elaine. Of course he never wanted that whole relationship. But those two were built for each other. Being the one who likes control he sure lost it. Will he get it back? READ THE BOOL, trust me you will love it.

Jeannette is an amazing author. I can not wait till her 3rd book for the Netting On You Series comes out.
